Motorola Edge 30 Specification and Review: Worthy Upgrade?

Motorola Edge 30 specifications

Yes, today we will discuss one of the lightest smartphones in the current market, the Motorola Edge 30. A few years ago, when there were no Mi or Realme phones, people went into the offline market to buy a phone with one of these four brands in mind: Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, and Oppo.

In addition, when brands like Reme and Mi came onto the market, Motorola’s value dropped drastically, as other brands were providing better specs than what Motorola and Samsung were providing at that time.

But now, in 2022, Everything is changed, and every brand is competing with each other by providing some extraordinary things on the Phone. One plus comes with the Phone that has the fastest charger. And it becomes a good headache for a consumer to choose the best smartphone which suits their needs and value for money.

But don’t worry, Techno Goyani is here to help you. Let’s discuss this smartphone, Motorola Edge 30, and look at the details of its specifications and design. If you are interested in buying this Phone, read the entire article as I gave you all the information you need to know.

Motorola Edge 30 Body & Design

The first time I took this Phone in hand, I couldn’t believe it was a phone. The Edge 30 is one of the lightest phones I’ve ever used. Motorola did a fantastic job on the weight management in this Phone.

In terms of the back, it is made of PMMA plastic, which is very hard and strong, but one thing you may not like is that it does not have a matte finish so that you can notice your fingerprints or Smudges quickly.

At the bottom of the back, there is a Big Brand logo of Motorola. The back of the phone is shiny and feels great in hand. If you use your phone more than 6 hours a day, this Phone is right for you.

It comes in three color Options: Meteor Grey, Supermoon Silver, and Aurora Green. This Phone is IP 52 certified, protecting your Phone from water and Dust.

This phone has a triple camera setup, which is also well designed and looks stylish. There are three rings in which the camera is mounted and a dual-LED flash. From the Front side, it has a punch hole Display in which the camera is Mounted.

Even the edge of the display is very thin. It has an excellent screen-to-body ratio of 86.2%. Infinity-O displays look nice on this Phone which looks like a 2022 smartphone.

With a Full HD+ 6.5-inch display, Motorola Edge 30 supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. This display is HDR 10+ certified and features a punch-hole display design that houses a selfie camera.

Having a big touch screen with a decent viewing angle, quick touch response, and vibrant colors are some of the things you look for in a mid-range priced Phone. That’s what Motorola Edge 30 offers.

This smartphone provides decent viewing on its 6.5-inch screen. A 144Hz refresh rate is available on this 10-bit pOLED display. You can set your refresh rate to 60Hz, 144Hz, or Auto.

The first time I used it, I kept the refresh rate at 144Hz, which worked perfectly, even though the touch response was fast and didn’t have lag. Unfortunately, the battery consumption went up. When you switch to auto mode or 60Hz refresh rate, you’ll notice the difference.

To get the most accurate colors, the saturated mode by default brightens up the colors, and those who prefer natural colors will have to change it to the same in the settings.

Motorola Edge 30 Processor

This Phone is powered by Snapdragon 778G+, a 6nm processor. It is a mid-range processor. It is a G-series processor from Qualcomm, and its Performance is impressive. Whether we talk about Video Editing, Gaming, or Multitasking, there is no lag or any other Frame drops while using this Phone.

Motorola Made this Phone for a Performance centric Audience like the Performance it is providing, and that smooth experience we get in this Phone with 144hz is just unique.

In addition to having LPDDR5 RAM, which is faster than what’s currently available, this Phone also has UFS 3.1 ROM, which I like most.

This Phone is Available in 3 different Variants [128Gb Rom – 6 Ram ], [128Gb Rom – 8Gb Ram],[256Gb Rom – 8Gb Ram]. The phone doesn’t have external storage, which is fine because if we want a thin phone, we have to sacrifice some things.

4. Connectivity

The Edge 30 is equipped with Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi Direct support. It also comes with Bluetooth 5.2. Motorola claims that this Phone supports 13 different 5G bands across the globe, making it future-proof.

In India, 5G is not yet available, so you can also use 4G since this Phone supports Dual 4G VoLTE. I love this Phone so much because Motorola has loaded it with almost all flagship features like NFC and Wi-Fi calling.

This Phone comes with a Dual Nano sim tray which means we can use 2 Nano. And yes, this Phone has no expandable storage options. It also lacks a headphone jack.

Biometrically, this device has an optical fingerprint sensor built into the display, which is fast and accurate. Also, face unlocking works excellent.

Motorola Edge 30 features two stereo speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos and Snapdragon Sound. The audio was clear and loud, thus making the entertainment experience better. The sound quality on the Phone is excellent even when it is connected with earphones.

The Phone is equipped with almost all basic sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and compass.

Motorola Edge 30 comes with a triple camera setup with a fantastic design. There is a 50 Megapixel primary camera with built-in OIS, a 50 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5 Megapixel depth camera.

The clarity and sharpness of the images were also excellent, as were the colors extracted correctly. You can get a bit disappointed, though, compared to the camera outputs of other phones in this price range. Additionally, I preferred the pictures taken at night using the night vision mode over those taken in the daytime in a usual or portrait way.

As for the videos, they looked good too. You can also try out other camera modes like Pro mode, Spot color, Panorama7., and dual capture.

7. Os and Security

Motorola Edge 30 runs on Android 12 and performs amazingly well. Edge 30 has no bloatware or pre-installed apps, so you’ll get a great user experience with its easy-to-use interface.

Other basic daily activities like calling, browsing the internet, playing games, and using social media applications more- whatever task you throw at the Phone handles it easily. In addition to basic daily activities like calling, browsing the internet, playing games, and using social media apps, the Phone handles anything you throw at it with ease and class without throwing any tantrums or bothering you.

Motorola will provide 3 years of security updates and 2 years of Android updates on these phones. That makes this future-proof phone.

8. Gaming

CODUp to high settings
Motorola Edge 30 Gaming

You may like the Motorola Edge 30 if you are a gamer. Whether you prefer lightweight games such as Subway Surfer or Temple Run or high-end games such as Call of Duty or BGMI, the Phone can offer you an incredible gaming experience. Compared to devices using the Snapdragon 778G or Snapdragon 695, you will enjoy better graphical Performance.

BGMI and COD run smoothly on this Processor as I don’t experience any lag or frame drops. And also I played BGMI and COD in High Settings.

9. Battery

BatteryLithium Polymer 4020 mAh
ChargingSupports 33watt Fast Charging
Motorola Edge 30 Battery

Another area that disappoints is battery capacity! The Motorola Edge 30 has a 4,020mAh battery compared to other companies that offer 4500-5000mAh batteries and 65W chargers. Perhaps this is why the Phone is so light! As long as you use it for around 4 hours a day, including calling, browsing the internet, scrolling social media, and so on.

Edge 30 will give you a good battery backup on a single charge, but you shouldn’t expect a good battery backup considering the battery capacity and 144Hz display.

During the weekend, when you watch a three-hour movie or play a high-end game for 30 minutes or more, you are likely to need to charge the phone twice. A full charge takes around 50 minutes to an hour from 10 percent with the Phone’s 33W charger.

Is Motorola Edge 30 Worth Buying? – conclusion

The Motorola Edge 30 struggles to meet its spec sheet in most areas. This Phone has a decent design and overall performance, but its camera output and battery backup don’t impress, especially for its price tag. Even though the Phone comes with Snapdragon 778G+ 5G and is slim and lightweight, it won’t be easy to ignore its competition in the sub-30,000 smartphone market entirely.

There’s no doubt that the Oppo F21 Pro and Realme 9 Pro+ have better cameras with fun modes. You may want to consider the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge and Realme 9 Pro+ if you want better battery life with fast charging.

A lightweight option, such as the Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, is a good choice, especially since it has a 10-bit AMOLED display and Snapdragon 778G chipset.
