Poco F4 5G is a much more advanced phone than Poco F1 in 2018. That phone’s processor was Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 845. Nonetheless, Poco’s F-series doesn’t match OnePlus’s devices, which are more premium. In spite of the Poco F4 5G remaining in the midrange price range (that is, somewhere between Rs 25k and Rs 35k), it lacks top-end specifications. The device does not represent a compromise regardless of its price.
Nowadays, mid-range smartphones are all about attracting a big chunk of users with attractive specifications. In reality, however, they often compromise on several aspects. As such, all we need is an overall performance with a minimum number of bugs. This Poco F4 5G offers all the features you’d expect from a device in the midrange segment: an AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 870 processor, fast charging, a good camera, and… so on.
The Poco F4 5G is now officially available in India, and it’s the brand’s third F-series handset in the country after the initial Poco F1 and last year’s Poco F3 GT. It’s also the first F-series handset in the country to utilize a flagship Qualcomm chipset in the 800-series family.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 powered the phone this time around, along with other flagship-grade specifications. This includes a 6.67-inch 120H AMOLED display that switches between 30Hz, 60Hz, and 120Hz, as well as 360Hz touch sampling. As well as supporting the DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR10+, this display has a peak brightness of 1300 nits. Multiple variants of the phone are available, offering 6GB, 8GB, 12GB, 128GB, and 256GB of storage. Let’s check out the detailed Specifications of POCO F4.

Most Poco smartphones feature a design that is familiar to Redmi phones. This Poco F4 is basically a rebranded version of the Redmi K40. Recently, we’ve seen several phones with matte glass finishes. Despite the glut of vertical and diagonal placement designs of cameras, the triple-camera module offers something new. Despite weighing 195g, it’s easy to use even for long hours.

Using the 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display of the Poco F4, which has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360 Hz sampling rate, has been a smooth experience. Featuring bright and sharp colors, the display provides a satisfying viewing experience. Despite its 1300 peak units of brightness, the display manages to display vivid colors under the bright sun brightness. This device enables you to watch high-quality content from OTT platforms since it is certified with Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
4. Processor & Memory
Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 [7 nm] |
Processor Core | Octa-Core – 3.2 GHz |
GPU | Adreno 650 |
RAM | 6 Gb & 8 Gb & 12GB |
RAM Type | LPDDR5 |
ROM | 128 Gb & 256 Gb |
Storage Type | UFS 3.1 |
The Poco F4 5G features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor seen in the iQOO Neo 6 5G. Whatever the task, the Poco F4 performs with no lags, whether it’s surfing online, scrolling social media, making calls, or playing heavy games. I tested the phone during a two-hour gaming session with high-end graphics titles such as COD: Mobile and Asphalt 9, and it performed flawlessly. However, even after heavy use, you may find that the device becomes heated to a certain degree, but that will not affect the performance long-term.
5. Camera
Main Camera | 64 MP [f/1.8] |
Ultra-Wide Camera – Rear | 8 MP [f/2.2] |
Macro Camera – Rear | 2 MP [f/2.4] |

Features – Front Camera | HDR, Pro Mode |
Video Recording | 1920 x 1080 @ 30 fps 1280 x 720 @ 30 fps |
The Poco F4 will enchant you with some DSLR-like effects if you enjoy playing with camera modes! The main feature of the device is the 64MP camera with OIS, supplemented by an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro lens. The main camera provides stunning images with good details, sharpness, and balanced contrast all throughout the frame. Although the color saturation looks a little off, the results will still look natural.
It is possible to use the digital zoom up to 10x, however it works well only up to 2x.
After that, you can clearly see the noise in the photos.
It is better to take the shot with your main camera and crop it later. However, even though the wide-angle camera takes decent photos, it lacks details and maintains colors.
Poco F4’s images at night are bright and color-saturated. Even so, the camera was able to capture decently well-lit images without much noise in the darker portions. You may notice slight skin tone differences in the portrait shots with its 20MP lens, as well as in the selfie photos with its 20MP lens. Additionally, Poco F4 features several options for clicking neon trails and moving crowds, such as the slow shutter, time freeze, and long exposure. These modes produce reasonable results. Using the rear camera, you can record 4K videos, while using the selfie camera you can record 1080p videos.

10. Battery
Battery | Lithium Polymer 4500 mAh |

With the conventional 5000mAh batteries in smartphones, heavy users (like me!) will have a hard time adjusting to this 4500mAh battery, which can last only one day on a full charge. The Poco F4 can last all day if you do everything from taking calls, listening to music, using social media, and playing games for an hour. With Poco’s fast charging, it can go from zero to one hundred percent in just 40 minutes. Quick charging can boost your battery by as much as 50% within 15 minutes. The charger is included in the box.

Conclusion
I would classify the Poco F4 5G as one of those mid-range smartphones that offer decent overall performance with few complaints. Poco F4 5G comes with a 120Hz AMOLED display, decent camera performance, fast charging, and powerful performance-oriented hardware to handle your gaming sessions well. As such, Poco’s past experience with software stability must be taken into consideration before opting for the Poco F4 5G.
Compared to other phones, the Poco F4 5G is more powerful than the iQOO Neo 6, which supports 80W charging. However, whether you are a gamer or not, the Poco F4 is the most appealing phone for either group.
